minxy techno fun time

miss hannah minx has been vlogging on youtube since two thousand and nine. with her kawaii fashion sense and make up to melt the room she’s been grooming the whole blogosphere to speak japanese in her jwow clips.

now she’s made it onto the big screen co-starring in darren lynn bousman’s the devil’s carnival.    miss hannah speaks with i.t.a. about the ride so far.

firstly, i’ve got to ask where the hypnotic music from the jwow vlog comes from? it just goes round and round in my head all day…

It's an original track recorded specifically for minxy videos! =^.^= It's titled, "Minxy Techno Fun Time!" and will be available on iTunes soon!

we’re huge fans of jwow at powder, how did you come to find yourself making the youtube vlogs? what was your inspiration?

Well, I loved watching youtube videos when it was a newer site a few years ago. Then when I found out that some people were starting to make shows out of youtube channels. It was very inspirational! Shows such as Ken Tanaka's channel (helpmefindparents) made me want to start posting videos, too. But I'd have to say that my overall inspiration for videos is Japanese language and culture! It is such a kawaii language and I'm always inspired the Japanese aesthetic in anime, manga, fashion, etc! <(^~^<)

oh… and just who is that laughing behind the camera at times?

Different friends of mine film with me. We have so much fun! Sometimes we need to stop filming and calm down because we end up laughing so much.
ヾ(@⌒▽⌒@)ノ

your success, it came so fast, how did you feel about that?

What's great about the internet and Youtube in general is that people share things! People post videos on their blog and send them to their friends. It's really awesome how original content creators can get what they make out to a wider audience than ever before. I really just have to thank all of my viewers for spreading the minxiness around!! (。・ω・。)ノ♡

we notice a touch of the burlesque in your outfits… any influences there?

Japanese Gothic Lolita fashion is a big influence. I love to go shopping in Harajuku and find kawaii clothes or head bands with bows! (●♡∀♡))ヾ☆*。

and ah, do you have a favourite outfit?

Favorite outfit is a tough question! But my favorite color to wear is teal. Very minxy.

we can see that you love make up and certainly know how to wear it. are there any products you prefer to wear? what are you using now?

Black liquid eyeliner is my number one go-to. I know it's hard to use, girls (and some guys), but you can get good at it if you keep at it! And then it doesn't smudge or come off! Even in Tokyo during the SUPER humid summer rainy season. I like to use eyeshadow in different colors and then also some more liquid eyeliner, but in cute different colors to add more fun. Check out my Holiday make-up tutorial, where I apply a red shadow, pink liquid liner combo! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo5GnWj13Jw)

so the devil’s carnival, how did you come to be involved in that?

Well, Hannah Jinx is a big fan of REPO The Genetic Opera, which is the previous movie made by The Devil's Carnival creators, Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich. They liked the Jinxy videos, so it was a perfect fit! (A match made in HELL), as she likes to say!

what’s the movie about and which character do you play?

It's being described as the new Rocky Horror Picture show - Tales from the Crypt meets the Anti-Glee. But it's really hard to find a good description for The Devil's Carnival. It's such an original and entrancing world that they've created. The characters, or rather, the band of players in the carnival of hell, are kind of like demons crossed with cartoon characters. The visitors who come to the carnival find themselves having to confront their fatal flaws in life through interacting with the devilish carnies and also Lucifer himself. I played one of Lucifer's employees in a trio called "The Woe Maidens." It's such a stunning little film that has you in suspense and awe and laughter. I'm looking forward to another installment of The Devil's Carnival soon!

what’s next for miss hannah minx?

I recently appeared at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles. It was so much fun, that I'm going to be heading up to New York Comic Con in October! In the future, I really want to get out to a lot more conventions. That's also a huge inspiration to me, is meeting my viewers at conventions. They're always super kawaii and inspiring with their amazing cosplay and fun-loving attitudes. (^o^)/

and to wrap up our conversation i’d like to ask how do you say ‘keep your powder dry’ in japanese?

白粉を乾いているほうがいいでしょう!
